One thing I found was that by using humour, it seemed to keep everyone’s attention and engaged them emotionally in what I was saying. By throwing in an anecdote here and joke there, it kept everyone focused on what was coming next. In any toast, the bride and groom should be the center of attention!
The best way to use this tactic in my experience is to interject your regular speech with a few good jokes. Say emotional things, then add a little humour to keep everyone relaxed and focused.
